Abolitionist Plunge

Human Trafficking, or modern day slavery, is often called the greatest evil of our time. There are more people living in slavery today than during the entire 400 years of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, 27 million by most estimates. InterVarsity’s Abolitionist Plunge is a week-long immersion into the world of fighting slavery. Participants will do street and hotel outreaches, meet with survivors, interact with government officials, learn how our consumer choices fuel the global slave trade, and see innovative programs that are making a difference in people’s lives. Throughout the week participants will also study the themes of slavery and freedom in the Bible and will come to a deeper understanding of the rescue from slavery to sin that Jesus offers as well as our responsiblity as His followers to “do justice.”
