Abolitionist Plunge 2017 - Week 1

InterVarsity’s Abolitionist Plunge (Week 1) is a week-long immersion into the world of fighting human trafficking, or modern day slavery -- often called the greatest evil of our time.

The Abolitionist Plunge includes:
  • Bible Study - emphasizing themes of slavery and freedom
  • Survivor Interviews
  • Street Outreach with the Salvation Army
  • CATCH ("Changing Actions To Change Habits") Court program for women rebuilding their lives after being prostituted
  • Freedom a la Cart - survivor-run food cart business
  • SOAP ("Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution") outreach at local hotels
  • Flyering at bus station, truck stops, and nail salons
  • Using the arts to fight trafficking
  • Exploring Fair Trade
  • Discussions with lawmakers, with leaders in law enforcement and social work, and with those who minister to "johns"

    Register by February 18, 2017. Cost is $180 if registered by February 11; $200 after. Participants will stay in host homes and will meet at a partnering church, with frequent site visits in Columbus and the surrounding area. A $50 nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit is due when you apply.
