Jesus, Justice & Poverty Institute

Jesus, Justice, Poverty Institute (formerly known as the Bay Area Urban Project) exists to support ministries on our college and university campuses in equipping and developing Christian staff and students as spiritual influencers/leaders in the work of justice, witness, and compassion. Our prayer is to raise up a prophetic witnessing community, bearing witness to a holistic relevant Gospel, and committing to a constant journey towards wholeness that requires persistent efforts on a personal, societal, and structural level. Through a number of programs, we hope to cultivate a radical and relevant faith that manifests in prayerful activism, mutual conversions, and intelligent love. The institute aims to offer leadership from the margins through a wealth of ministers, thought-leaders, justice practitioners, organizers, and activists who are mostly of color.
