Programs less than 4 weeks (registration fees only)
In the case of programs where students pay just a registration fee, use a Non-Donation Deposit Form to submit student application/registration fees to Accounting Services (not Donation Services as fees are NOT donations). Do not hold the checks for longer than one week.
Remember: Registration fees payments are not tax deductible. Thus, students must be clear that, if they are asking for donations for their registration fee, their donors will not receive a tax deductible receipt.
When accounting for your program, registration fee funds are entered as payments into the fee income line of the financial reports for the program.
If staff choose, they may raise donations for the program as a whole. These donations should be sent into Donation Services and are tax deductible. They will also be entered into the program account.
